COVID-19 has affected supply chains and although we only use market-leading suppliers they have all been affected in one way or another.
Many suppliers are faced with material shortages and this obviously impacts their efficiencies and output volumes. To put this into some context:
- Made to order profiles have gone out from 4 to 11 weeks since 1 August.
- There are backorders on ex-stock profiles due to demand.
- A leading supplier is out of stock of numerous glass designs for composite doors and is unable to confirm dates.
- Door hinges in certain colours are out of stock.
- There are UK and European steel shortages.
- Some hardware companies are out of stock on some standard products.
- PVC resin shortages – a leading systems house has advised that they can only supply 50 per cent of budgeted sales.
- Glass shortages – several suppliers are rationing supply at 60 per cent of usual order levels.
- The lead time for Made to Order foils from one supplier is currently 11 weeks.
Current lead times are noted below, but are subject to change on a daily basis.
