As the weather brightens and we get out into the garden, the need for home repairs and improvements become more visible.
During the winter months, it’s easy to hunker down inside, slip up the central heating thermostat or stoke up the fire and forget about the cold outside, but if you’re now looking at your latest energy bills and shuddering at the cost of keeping your home warm, it might be time to look at how energy efficient your windows and doors are.
Additionally, as we head outside and get on top of home maintenance tasks, it’s worth looking at the quality and condition of both. If your property has wooden fittings, perhaps the time and cost of maintaining these annually, with preparation, filling and painting, has become onerous? Or if you have older style double glazing, are the materials used up to scratch and as efficient as they might be?
With a wide range of styles and colours available, the latest double and triple glazing solutions can maintain a sympathetic period look in older homes, but can markedly improve heat loss and reduce noise.
West Norfolk Glass, one of the region’s longest-established double glazing firms, was recently featured in a national campaign by the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF). The company, which was formed in 1967 and is based at Hardwick Narrows, is the only glazing firm in the North West Norfolk region to be listed as part of the new industry initiative.
Aimed at consumers, myglazing.com aims to direct buyers towards members of the trade federation who have financial stability and have been trading for at least three years, employ trained professionals and abide by the GGF’s Consumer Code of Good Practice.
“The GGF was founded in 1977, ten years after our father founded West Norfolk Glass, and we are proud to be members of the industry’s trade body” says director Geoff Parker.
“We are a family-run firm and, although there are a number of glazing firms in the area, our membership of the GGF means that customers can buy double, triple and secondary glazing with confidence. We are delighted to be the only local supplier featured in the GGF’s myglazing.com initiative which guides consumers in their choice of glazing solutions.”
